Potential copyvio farm

Hi Túrelio, I noticed you deleted File:Rescuer onlooker at the landslide location on 01 August 2024.jpg after finding out it was a copyvio. I was looking into this user due to some disruption on en.wiki, and in addition to the copyright notices on their talkpage File:Participants in first summit.png seems to be taken directly from this site. The two current socks that have uploaded images are here and here. I actually tineyed them before I knew they were socks, and didn't find anything, but since becoming aware of the larger pattern the uploads seem potentially concerning. Túrelio, I think there's some confusion here. I requested the deletion of User:Baggaet/common.js and User:Hulged/common.js because these two pages are double redirects to User:Ratekreel/common.js. Hi, would you take a look at File:Convair 580 turbo prop airplane.gif ? I am also wondering if an uploader is allowed to remove copyright violation CSD on their own from a file where an allegation of copyright violation is made.

I have CSD'd as a copyright violation, because the description provided by the uploader which says he was given permission by presumptive copyright owner's representative for conditional use only, which is contradictory to CC-BY-SA even though uploader set the machine readable copyright as CC-BY-SA. The uploader removed my CSD tag. The description says The image came from Farrow J. Smith who was a director of Alexander Dawson, Inc. at 4045 South Spencer St., Suite 212, Las Vegas, Nevada. He has given me permission to use this picture in publications about Girard B. Henderson. so it's pretty obvious they only granted permission for very specific use and there's no indication implied or direct the uploader had permission to release the image under CC-BY-SA. Spezielles Löschproblem ... Skriptfehler

Moin Túrelio - und gleich erstmal vielen Dank für die gerade gelöschten Scripte zu Eisenberg, Thüringia. Ich hab nun noch ein ganz spezielles Fehlerbild das wohl nicht in die normale Löschauftragsliste passt: - da ist unlängst beim Abspeichern ein Datenübertragungsfehler entstanden. Mein PC war damals zufällig genau beim Speichern 30 min offline, Netzausfall. Die betreffenden Skripte erscheinen z.Zt. in rosa Schrift und offensichtlich ging da ein Leerzeichen beim Speichern verlustig: es betrifft die Scripte 1. Buildings in Meiningen by function Istzustand: Buildings in Meiningenby function sowie 2. Buildings in Kaltennordheim by function hier steht ebenso Buildings in Kaltennordheimby function. we are talking about File:ProfessorSaidBookcase.jpg, right? Problem is, you claimed to be the photographer/author, which per your statement is not true. If you are in contact with the depicted Professor Said, please ask him 1) who is the photographer? and 2) whether he (Said) obtained full copyright from the photographer? If answer to 2) is Yes, then you should go to Commons:Email templates#Email message template for release of rights to a file, copy the text out of the rectangle and add the filename of the Said-image to it. Then send him the permission-text and ask him to date and sign it and to send it from his official email-address to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org (OTRS). His email will only be seen by our OTRS-volunteers and not be published. If answer to 2) is No, then he first needs to ask the photographer whether he would agree to release this photo under a Creative-Commons-license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/deed.de), which allows others to use it freely. I had uploaded images to Swaminarayan Akshardham - New Jersey, but may be I might have missed something regarding permission while uploading it.

I have permissions for all the images uploaded to from the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha - and here is the ticket number - Ticket#2024081510002713 for your reference.

Can you please guide me the correct way - on how to display permissions so there's no further deletion of images.

I've temporarily undeleted File:Akshardham Bhumital pujan2014 20.jpg, File:Ceilng-scaled.jpg, File:19 Sept 4 Akshardham Site Visit.jpg and File:065 Akshardham Pratishtha Mahotsav Robbibsville Oct08 202.jpg. However, an OTRS-agent needs to confirm the validity of the mentioned ticket for each of these images. You cannot add this by yourself. You redirected this file to another one as being a duplicate, but I took this picture in an exhibition in Barcelona about the old quartier, El barri perdut, La Casa dels Entremesos (2016). I ignored that this photograph existed already in Commons. Enric (talk) 02:56, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

Nevertheless, both show the same original photography. Your upload had higher resolution, which would normally a reason to keep it, but visually the existing image looked better. I'm not sure I understand why the file goes against copyright protection. While it is posted on twitter, it is by the U.S. Federal Government -- the Office of U.S. Senator Roger Wicker. Just because it is posted on Twitter wouldn't mean that it suddenly gains copyright protection, because if so, it would means the rights to the image go to the author...which is still the federal government. If I could get clarity here, that would be highly appreciated, as I have uploaded a fair few number of images under this reasoning. Duplicates

How can a file uploaded in 2023, be a duplicate of one uploaded in 2024? Case in point File:Road border Vilar Formoso - Fuentes de Oñoro (53660674580).jpg, uploaded in June 4 2024, and File:Road border Vilar Formoso - Fuentes de Oñoro (53297959275).jpg, not speaking of several more files in the same situation. Not sure what you want to tell me by this case, as both files were dupe-tagged by yourself. Anyway, both files are sourced to the same image/file on Flickr. So, here they are duplicates. In case of 100% identical files, we usually delete the later uploaded file (or the one that is not or far less used on projects). In case of identical photography, but different resolution/size, I tend to delete the lower resolution/size file. --Túrelio (talk) 08:01, 3 December 2024 (UTC)

Hi, well it wasn't restored, but was re-uploaded out of process. The correct way would have been to request its undeletion at COM:UDR. On User talk:Jay8g you have written "Copyright 2024 Drew Martin all right reserved.", which is quite the opposite of a free license. Why the heck were my pictures removed

Duplicate files

Can you please NOT remove the existing categories of duplicate files after redirecting like you did on File:National Day Military Parade 2024 - TR-85M1.jpg or File:National Day Military Parade 2024 - Piranha V.jpg? Copyright violation related question

Is using a YouTube video thumbnail as the image for a Wikipedia entry also a form of Copyright violation? I've seen many entries that use YouTube video screenshots, with a CC 3.0 copyright attribution. One If (talk) 01:30, 9 December 2024 (UTC)

Hi, as you may know (or not), Youtube-videos can be released under Youtube's default license (no specific note below the description on Youtube) or under a CC-BY license (expressedly named below the description). In the latter case, the video or parts of it can be uploaded to Commons under the CC license. In the other case, it cannot be uploaded to Commons. In case of historical videos or videos of people or things for that there is no other freely licensed image available, they may qualify for "fair use" on those few Wikimedia projects, that allow fair use.
